Mass does not change during a chemical change. If it is in a gas state, liquid state, or solid state the volume (mass), stays the same.
There are different kinds of mass, and matter can have its mass changed. Mass can separate; mass can be released as energy. The fact (as far as humans know) still stands: mass cannot be created or destroyed. Here’s a physics forum discussion going deeper into the velocity of the matter. (pun intended)
