When are companies projecting the market to have a lot of electric vehicles?

It depends on which company you ask. Toyota is not optimistic; because of the high price tag on the lithium ion batteries needed to operate an electric car, they don’t think the concept will be mainstream for another 10 years.

However, the answer to get big companies like Toyota to find solutions to problems like the lithium battery (and the fact that an EV can’t travel very far, the battery is very heavy and can cause damage by weighing down part of the vehicle) may be with do-it-yourself groups like Electric Vehicles of America, who make electric car parts available to the few who have them at a more affordable rate.

Nothing spurs on big business like an independent contractor cutting into their profits, so hopefully organizations like EVA will speed the process up a bit.
