Mars is essentially a desert, with a very thin atmosphere, of which 95% is composed of Carbon Dioxide. Mars is also cold–in the summer surface temperatures rarely go above 60 degrees F; at night temperatures drop to -100 degrees F. In winter at the polar regions, temperatures can drop to -200 degrees F. Storms on Mars are similar to those on Earth (cyclones, low and high pressure systems), yet are generally short-lived, but can cover massive amounts of area. Clouds mainly contain water ice crystals. Dust storms occur in the summer.
