It is difficult to pinpoint exact dates for endangered species, but late last year, the Ozark Hellbender, a type of salamander, was added to the list. It is a native to southern Missouri and northern Arkansas in the United States, and it has been declared a crime to kill any. They have brown, slender bodies with stubby legs and tails that equal their bodies in girth. They are among some of the largest salamanders in the world, sometimes getting up to 2 feet in length. It is also said that with their deep decline since the 1980’s, they also face fungal infections and abnormalities within their small populations.
