What’s the difference between green peas and green beans?

Green peas are legumes eaten without their skin, which is a bit tougher than that of a green bean. The peas inside are round, whereas inside a green bean are a more typical “bean” shape. Green beans are also legumes, encased in an edible pod, and the two are closely related.
