What’s the difference between animal welfare activism and animal rights activism?

  1. 0 Votes

Animal welfare activists seek humane treatment of animals used in testing, research, agriculture, teaching, and exhibition. Animal rights activists go a step further, seeking to end research and testing on animals. Many animal rights activists are also vegans, believing that foods that contain animal products are inherently inhumane. For example, they may argue that pigs’ exceptional intelligence and depth of feeling makes it cruel to raise them for food.
