The Zayed Future Energy Prize is an award given to a company or individual every year that exemplifies innovation, development and implementation of renewable and sustainable energy solutions. The winners in the past have been awarded with $1.5 million, however, this year the prize has been raised to $4 million. The award is the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, former ruler of Abu Dhabi and Founding Father of the United Arab Emirates. The prize was created to honor Zayed’s late father’s legacy of environmental stewardship. The award is intended to inspire people around the world to come up with solutions for the future and to pass along a clean environment to future generations.
The Zayed Future Energy Prize was established to honor the late ruler of Abu Dhabi and founding father of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan had a deep interest and care for the environment. The Prize was established to honor his legacy. The prize is awarded to recognize the achievements of governments, companies, NGOS, and individuals who have worked towards creating renewable and sustainable energy solutions. Every nomination/entry is reviewed by a selection committee who will look for impact, innovation, long-term vision, and leadership when selecting a winner. Winners of the prize will be awarded money and/or recognition.
