If the bill passes (or if has recently passed), it would demand that California gets one third of its energy from alternative sources (wind, solar, etc) by the year 2020.

The governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, signed Executive Order S-14-08 on November 17th, 2008 which requires California utilities to get 33 percent of their energy from renewable resources by 2020. As of 2007, 11.8 of all electricity in California came from renewable sources such as solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, and small hydro electric plants.
