Yak wool is a fabric made from Yak fiber. Yaks are members of the bovine family (see picture below). Their wool is soft and some articles suggest it is the “new cashmere” of fabrics. Yaks are native to Asia.

Yak wool is derived from the fur coat of yaks. Yaks are found in Tibet and China. Yaks naturally shed their fur coat during the spring months and the fur that is collected is made into wool. Yak wool is considered to be very warm and soft, and is comparable to cashmere.
