Nitrogen and Carbon are two elements found in all amino acids and nucleic acids. Chains of amino acids form proteins, a substance that is essential for life. So, without Nitrogen, plants would die.
Several symptoms can occur when a plant is deficient in nitrogen. The leaves turn to yellow or pale green color, usually infecting the older foliage first and spreads throughout the plant. They may also drop off and plant growth is typically stunted. All these symptoms reveal how the plant is unhealthy and, if left untreated, it will die.
