Each individual acorn may sprout, but since they are singular seeds, they can’t combine with those around them to make a giant oak tree. If multiple acorns of the four planted did take root and grow a tree, eventually they will be crowded. The one that has grown the biggest, therefore gets more sunlight and nutrients from the soil, would deprive the others of these essential things. The others would most likely die.
