What would EPA greenhouse gas limits do to some industries?

Industry lobbyists would like you to believe that greenhouse gas limits (or cap and trade system) would make production impossible to do because it would cost so much money that they could never be profitable. However, in reality these limits would incentivate investment into cleaner production techniques and renewable energy sources, and companies would simply have to be more responsible with how they emit greenhouse gasses. Today, with no system in place, these companies can pollute freely, they do not have to consider the societal cost of pollution so theres no reason for them to not pollute. If we make companies pay for pollution, then we will have a much more sustainable policy in place.
