What is the worst thing we can put into our water?

    A list of the pollutants industry puts into our waterways include “grit, asbestos, phosphates and nitrates, mercury, lead, caustic soda and other sodium compounds, sulfur and sulfuric acid, oils, and petrochemicals.” I would say that the worst of those would probably be mercury or lead, which are highly toxic to humans.
