Washington DC has seen some really bad storms. The 2010 winter storm known as Snow-ocalypse was bad enough to rival the Knickerbocker Storm of January 27/28, 1922 when almost three feet were dropped, a hundred people were killed, and the Knickerbocker Theater collapsed. The worst storm to hit the east coast was teh Great Blizzard (The Great White Hurricane) in March, 1888. 40 to 50 inches of snow fell in New York and there were 400 deaths across the eastern seaboard.
