what is the worst oil spill in the US and when?

i’m not sure if it was the HUGE BP oil spill or what?

    The BP Gulf Oil Spill is officially the worst in the history of the U.S. The spill amounted to 205.8 million gallons oil, more than any other spill in American history. This is equivalent to 4.9 million barrels of oil.

    Apparently, the recent BP oil spill is now considered the worst in US history. Before that, the Exxon Valdez oil spill in 1989 was generally considered the worst at approximately 250,000 barrells. To give you and idea of how bad the BP one was…it was estimated to have released 4.9 million barrells of oil, or 19.6 times as much oil as the Exxon Valdez spill, a picture of which is below.

    By many accounts, the 1909 Lakeview, CA, gusher is the worst; at over 9 million barrels, that’s nearly double the general estimate for the Deepwater Horizon.
