What is the worst byproduct of making glass?

Arguably, the worst byproduct is CO2 which is emitted as a result of the burning necessary for heating the furnace and production of electricity for the compressors required for glass production. Glass manufacturing also produces a fair amount of water and air pollution and dust. But since these have mainly local impact and the CO2 has global impact, it might be fair to say that the CO2 is the worst byproduct of glass making.
