While a gluten allergy, specifically Celiac disease, is not an immediate threat to human life, it can cause many dangerous and irreversible side effects. If a person with Celiac disease consumes gluten, their intestines are then not able to absorb nutrients from other foods they consume. The body then starts drawing nutrients from fatty tissue stores, bones, etc. This can cause osteoperosis, poor weight gain, tooth decay, and a number of other undesirable side effects.
