    The Rusty Spotted cat (Prionailurus rubignosus) is the smallest wild cat, weighing about 1.5 kg and measuring only 50 centimeters from head to tail.  However, it’s highly endangered, with only 36 cats of the species remaining worldwide.

    The Rusty Spotted Cat is the smallest wildcat in the world. Native to India, it is highly endangered and only 36 individuals survive today, domestically raised in 11 international zoos. On average they weigh less than 3.5 pounds and are about 20 inches long.
