Mauna Loa on the island of Hawaii is the largest volcano on Earth.
Yes, Mauna Loa is the world’s largest volcano. Not only does it reach over 4,000 meters above sea level, but it stretches another 8,000 meters to base of the ocean’s floor and makes a 5,000 meter deep hole at its base. In total, liquid magma bubbling in the Earth’s mantle has to reach more than 17,000 meters (56,000 feet) to reach the surface and erupt, which it has been doing consistently since 1984.
