What is the worlds largest lizard?

The world’s largest lizard is the Komodo dragon. It can grow up to 10 feet long and can weigh more than 300 pounds. They run fast and can eat any kind of meat. They are pretty much excellent killing machines. In a sense, they are similar to snakes as they have venom that can be poisonous.

The largest lizard in terms of overall size and weigh is the Komodo dragon. These huge monitor lizards can reach almost 10′ in length (averaging 6.6-9.8′), with an average weight around 150 lb. Recent evidence indicates they may actually have venom.

Also in the runnings is the crocodile monitor, a related lizard which can reach lengths of 8′ and may, on average, be longer than Komodo dragons. I find competing reports on which animal is longer, but the Komodo is certainly the heaviest and largest lizard overall.
