The United States has 12,400 miles of coastline that would be affected by a sea level rise along with 19,900 miles of coastal wetlands.  Sea level rising of one meter would cost the US an estimated $156 billion per year to adapt to the changing coastlines.  Coastal cities like New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco would be partly submerged under water.
