What will it mean once we reach peak coal?

Peak coal is the point where we have reached maximum coal production rates.  This means that once we hit peak coal, the rate of production will enter an irreversible decline.  Coal is a non-renewable fossil fuel which takes millions of years for the earth to create.  The earth cannot create enough resources quickly enough to meet our demands.  Once Peak Coal is reached, we know that there is a finite number of years left in the coal harvesting industry before the earth’s reserves run dry.  The predicted date for peak oil in the USA is 2030.  Peak coal has already been surpassed in Canada and many other countries.
