Well for 2 examples, a lot of electricity is usually produced through methods like burning coal or nuclear power. Obviously by not conserving electricity we have to keep adding fuel to the fire (sometimes literally). The more energy we use the more nuclear power-plants we have to build, which then leads to more nuclear waste that will still be unstable after the great-grandkids of our great-grandkids have great-grandkids.
The more coal we burn, the more pollution is pumped into the atmosphere which obviously increases chances for a slew of health problems like asthma, as well as contributes to the destruction of the environment.
It will just continue us through our downward spiral.
