If we calculate that we haven’t hit peak oil yet, then the price of oil will be a shock to consumers. Once peak oil is passed, oil becomes increasingly scarce and prices are driven up. This change may come as a shock if predicted at the wrong time, and it may encourage consumers to push for faster reforms in the energy industry. However, I doubt our supply of oil will be significantly affected. The price tag, however, will change.
