The Tri-State Tornado of March 1925 is on record as the longest, widest, and deadliest tornado. This monster of a twister remained on the ground for 3.5 hours, crossing from Missouri to Illinois and Indiana. It left a path 219 miles long and was up to one mile wide in diameter. Nearly 700 people were killed and 15,000 homes were destroyed. That makes this the biggest tornado on record in several ways.
