    Mawsynram, Meghalaya (India) is considered the wettest city on Earth, receiving around 39 feet of rain a year. In 1985, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, Mawsynram received 26,000mm of rain in one year. It is believed to receive record rainfall due to its proximity to the Bay of Bengal and monsoon seasons.
