What were some of the environmental impacts of the World Bank and IMF structural adjustment projects?

One of the impacts of the structural adjustment projects is that they encourage local industries to produce inexpensive goods to sell on the international market. Unfortunately, the more inexpensive the product, the more environmental damage it causes (usually). Also, these industries are often unregulated, preventing any sort of action to prevent the resulting environmental degradation.
