What was the significance of the General Assembally?

    The General Assembly as a whole – is the portion of the United Nations that meets to deliberate on issues such as peace, security, human rights and admission of new members.  Each country that is a member has a vote.  The list of discussion items is lengthy and the link below is to the 2010 agenda.  Many items such as rights to food, right to development, globalization and it’s impact, and the Millennium Development Goals are discussed and voted on.
