The 2010 Olympics captured methane from a nearby landfill for energy, and the primary souce of heat for the village was supplied from waste heat from the municipal waste water treatment plant. The Olympic village held LEED platinum ratings and the Olympic committee allocated a lot of funding towards hydrogen buses and infrastructure.
