    The first wind farm in the US is at the Crocheted Mountains in New Hampshire. It was established in 1980 by the first wind turbine manufacturing company, US Windpower.

    California was the first state wind farms were built in. By 1995, California was producing over 30% of the worlds wind power.

    The Tehachapi pass wind farm, the San Gorgonio Pass wind farm, and the Altamont pass wind farm were the earliest wind farms  built in California. These three were built as a wind farm project that started construction in the early 1980’s.
