What was the first radio broadcast into space?

    The first radio signal in space came from the satellite Sputnik, in 1957. The Russian satellite was the first manmade object put into orbit, and so it created the first radio signal that originated in outer space. Radio waves originating from Earth had been reaching outer space since the late 19th century.
