The Gulf Islands National Park Reserve was created in 2007 and it made up of both ocean and land. It was created to preserve and protect the national heritage sites and wilderness areas. It is Canada’s first new national park of the 21st century. Since the park is so remote, Canada decided to create a building structure that is sustainable and uses the resources, ocean, rainfall, and sunlight, of its location. It will be Canada’s first LEED Platinum Certified Building.
