The first hydrogen car in the U.S. was made by GM.  In 1966 they created the Electovan, a modified GMC Handivan.  The original Handivan sat six passengers.  The modifications and equipment in the Electrovan changed it into a two-seater.  Due to the extremely prohibitive cost the Electrovan never made it into showrooms.
