El Ranch Vegas was the first hotel-casino to open on the strip in 1941. It burned down 19 years later. The Golden Gate Casino is the oldest hotel-casino in Vegas that is still in operation today. It opened in 1906, but was called Hotel Nevada back then.

The now defunct El Rancho Hotel and Casino was the first casino opened on what is now the Vegas strip. It was opened in 1941 by Thomas Hull. The casino was one of the first resorts built to cater to all a vacationers needs, a complete escape. It unfortunately close after less then two decades because of a catastrophic fire in 1960.
