What was the first carnicogen to be identified?

    In November of 1945, the government announced that their was a cancer-causing chemical in cranberries grown that year.  Americans thew away their cranberry sauce en masse.  While not the first carcinogen identified, it is the first “carcinogen scare” in this country.
