The man made island projects off of the coast of Dubai have undoubtedly harmed the surrounding marine environment. These projects include 2 palm tree shaped formations and islands in the form of the earth’s land masses (“The World”). So much sand has been moved and redeposited that one once clear waters have become clouded with silt. Corral reefs and subterranean fields of sea grass have been buried by the sand displacement. These changes are a direct threat to the life that depends on those resources for food.
