What was the controversy surrounding a pesticide produced by Bayer?

Some researchers and beekeepers believe that pesticides, including spirotetramat, the one produced by Bayer, are contributing to Colony Collapse Disorder. A judge in Manhattan has decided to ban sale of the pesticide, citing EPA’s illegal approval of the chemical. Many beekeepers and activists are enraged at the EPA’s lack of responsibility as a regulatory body when it approved the pesticide without following regulations. Meanwhile, bee populations are diving and many conservation groups argue that pesticides like spirotetramat are to blame.
