Back when the Vikings ruled the seas, they used a device called a “sunstone” that pointed to the direction of the sun during a time of bad weather (clouds, fog, etc.). The sunstone was said to look like a crystal, that could catch the sun’s reys and point to its direction.
Of course this would come in very handy, especially in a time without GPS navigation devices. Although more research is needed to see if the sunstone could actually work, some modern day scientists claim it does.
