Electricity. You are able to power this through a slew of alternative forms. (the most common are hydroelectric (Niagara Falls), solar (many roofs ,especially in California, have these) and Wind (wind farms and now you can get rooftop turbines), and nuclear (unfortunately, plants are all over the country)
However, where you live greatly variates how much (if any) of your electricity is produced by alternative methods.
