Urban wildlife includes wild animals that live in an urban (city) environment. This includes the common ones such as rats, pigeons, sparrows, starlings, squirrels, and raccoons. More surprising examples are peregrine falcons and nighthawks, beavers, coyotes (such as the famous one caught in New York not long ago), deer, geese, cougars, and even wolves and bears. This happens due to the destruction and fragmentation of the natural habitat of those animals and/or due to the convenience found in cities (such as nesting places and availability of food).
Urban wildlife is a term for animals that make their habitats in an around large cities. They include squirrels, raccoons, mice, rats, skunks, and pigeons. Many organizations work to promote awareness of these animals so that humans may better interact with them and prevent conflicts.
