What urban areas in the U.S. besides New Orleans have been ravaged by natural disasters?

    One example is the Tri-State Tornado, which destroyed areas of Illinois, Indiana, and Missour.  Also, areas of Mississippi were ravaged by Hurricane Katrina as well.  Hurricane Galveston occured in an urban area of Texas, and the Dust Bowl of the 1930s devastated farmers the Great Plains area.  Millions of people were left homeless as a result.

    The cities in Florida, particulary Miami, get hit with hurricanes somewhat frequently. I’m not sure if you consider a blizzard a natural disaster, but many northern cities experience them on a regular basis. The west coast cities, such as Los Angeles and San Francisco, have experienced many earthquakes throughout their histories. Floods ravage parts of the midwest from time to time, as well.
