What is the United States doing to protect its islands?

    The EPA and other federal administrations have no comprehensive protection plans for island territory. But one big step in protection that occurred recently was the designation of 190,000 square miles of sea of island territory around U.S. holdings in the Pacific as a protected area, prohibiting fishing and mining in the area.
