It really depends on the city, time of year and population of the area. In the winter more homeless folks will try to find a bed inside and sometimes can’t get in at all. It depends on how much room the shelter has, how many beds, overall how many people can the facilities support. For the most part people will be able to get in within a few hours, but it times like now, it can be difficult in big cities to find a comfortable bed to sleep in if you’re homeless.
