It is brownish, wrinkly, small, it bites when you annoy it, and I found it by a dirty lake.
It’s really difficult to tell with the information provided. It could be several different types, depending on where (geographically) you found it, and depending on the markings it has, etc. The linked site has many examples of freshwater turtles all with pictures.
However, I don’t recommend keeping any animal you find in the wild. It could have diseases that could be transmitted to you, and many animals don’t transition well from the wild to the home. In addition, it’s illegal to have any sort of wild animal as a pet, unless you have a license. The best thing to do now would be to put it back in the lake.
