The largest type of pigeon is the Victoria Crowned pigeon, and it’s about 74 cm (29 inches) long and weigh up to 2.5 kg. These birds are distributed in the lowlands and swamp forests of northern New Guinea and surrounding islands.
The Crowned pigeons are the largest of the pigeons, more specifically, the Victoria Crowned pigeon. Their distribution extends throughout New Guinea. These pigeons may be considered vulnerable as they are subject to hunting and produce only one egg during breeding season. They are a beautiful vibrant blue-gray and have a distinguishable crest across their head.
