    There is no specific “type” of nutrient that can be considered hardest to break down. As seen from http://www.qualityhealth.com/eating-nutrition-articles/5-hardest-foods-digest, the hardest foods to digest start with bread, a carbohydrate, pork, a protein, beans, also a protein, broccoli, and cheese, a protein. Although protein makes up much of this list, a carbohydrate is still on top.

    Proteins and fats are the hardest nutrients for our body to digest. Proteins are very important as a source of energy and also for the building of muscle and brain tissue. Fat, though generally seen by the public as something to be avoid is also a necessary part of a healthy diet.
