The Wimbledon grass courts are made of 100% Perennial Rye grass, which has been used on the courts since 2001. This is done so that the courts have improved durability and can withstand the increased wear that is seen in modern tennis. Another great point about this grass is that while it improves these two areas, it does not sacrifice speed for the the players. The grass is kept short at a height of 8mm, which enables the grass to to survive dry soil and survive play.
