Actually, the answer is bamboo! Even though you may not think of it as grass, bamboo is actually classified in the same group as grass. It can grow up to two feet per day, and grow to a harvestable level for mass use as a wood in only 3-5 years. Due to the way its root system works, after being cut down, the bamboo simply replenishes itself, and doesn’t require more planting!
The fastest growing grasses are rye, fescue, and Bermuda grasses. Ryes and fescues are annuals and grow and die in one season. They grow faster than perennial grasses.
