The most common farm raised fish are carp, salmon, catfish, and tilapia. The number of each species raised on a farm depends on the geographic location/climate where they are raised. The most economically viable of these fish is tilapia.
Tilapia is the most commonly used fish in aquaponics because they are relatively durable in the confined quarters and can provide the necessary nutritious waste for the growing plants.
