Genetically Modified (GM) cotton has been known to contaminate cotton supplies which were designated as organic or GMO free. The contamination causes the cotton to be poisonous to certain species of insect. It has been found that this contamination is caused more by human mishandling than by insects which pollinate the two separate crops. The seeds of GM cotton and Organic cotton look identical, as a result they are often mishandled by farmers or sold mis-labeled by the distributor.
